WE ARE CROWDFUNDING STRANGERS ON THE 'NET!
If you remember the early days of the pandemic, you might recall that Soft Chaos was commissioned to create an interactive theatre piece for the UpintheAir eVolver festival. That's how Strangers on the 'Net came into existence. Here's what it's all about!
Y2K, A/S/L, LOL! Get ready to gossip, roleplay, flirt, fight, fall in love, confess your secrets, figure out who you are, and confront what it meant to be a teenager in 1999.
In Strangers on the 'Net, players take on the role of two characters at once: a teenager who has been taught not to share too much about their life with strangers on the internet and a fictional character that they like to roleplay. The game encourages players to remember (or discover) what it was like to be young in the early age of the internet and reconcile who they thought they were then with who they have grown up to be.
We kept developing Strangers on the 'Net and have tested it with dozens of different groups. Now, Soft Chaos has been selected as one of twenty teams to participate in RPG Party, a crowdfunding extravaganza taking place in late summer/early fall. Right now, the preview pages have just been launched and you can follow the project to get updates -- and a special gift if you follow before the campaign kicks off. Check it out here!
If you have played Strangers on the 'Net in the past and are willing to do a short interview with us about the experience, please reach out to us at [email protected]! If we know you personally, we may reach out to you directly 👉👈!
We'd also love for your help spreading the word! Please reshare our posts on BlueSky, make your own post, or share the link to the campaign preview with someone (or a community of someones — we know you’re in all of the coolest Discord servers) you think will love Strangers on the 'Net.
