As we moved into October this week the weather got properly autumnal, which here means "mid-70f with nice cool nights." We have a lot of stuff still very green that will drop their leaves in an "oh shit, right" rush near the end of the year. January's oranges are already weighing heavy and green on the trees. The pecans (I think) are edible enough for squirrels to carpet the ground with their spitty little husk scraps. Did you know that pecan husks dropped onto you from a spaced out, chewing squirrel stain? I have several shirts that prove it.

Anyway, got back into the writing saddle this week! It feels kind of weird to be writing something that's going to be more longform. Goodness knows it's been a minute. I also got my weekly blog post in, this one about stuff I normally never post about, although I think about it a lot.

My day job means I always have to have part of my brain turned on to media trends and promotions, so I can assess value and triage actions, so often I am like that I've connected the two dots meme, but instead of being wrong its more like I have made a connection literally nobody cares about because it's too niche. Which is fine, I just decided that I will sometimes blog about it because I think it's interesting and what better place to find things I find interesting than my own blog?

I swap between using Ellipsus and Visual Studio Code for writing, though also I will pick up one of my little writey guys like the Pomero or an AlphaSmart for short stuff or when I don't feel like turning on the computer. For this current project I'm using Ellipsus because it is enjoyable to write in and has a built-in sprint timer so I can force some focus. If you're looking for a web-based writing program, big recommend on Ellipsus, especially if you share drafts with folks. I only recommend VSC for writing if you are a total nerd, since it's made for coding. But it is a nice way to write in markdown with minimum distractions (and I've set it up to look like the old amber CRTs).

Anyway, that's it for the week: writing and more writing. I'm also reblogging my monster playlists over on Tumblr. I exported them over to YouTube this year so if that's your preferred method you can enjoy them over there here's a link to Queer Frankenstein.
