Image description: A photograph of a grey-painted, worn concrete wall with various broken chunks and rocks piled at the base. Framed pencil drawings on hotel notepad paper hang on the wall at the top of the image, next to a pair of shoes. A vibrant pink, purple, and black painting of a Snow White-type witch is stuck to the wall just above the highest point of the piled rocks. End ID.

As the last full week of the month, lots of bits of this week were a combo of getting my (many) various planners and trackers together for October and also taking it a little easier.

  • Finished newsletter zine #8, which means I have just two more left before I'm caught up, exciting! I'll have to figure out other things to make zines of once I'm there.
  • Sent another agent query! I feel incredibly neutral about doing this tbh, it's a good exercise. This also makes five queries I've sent for this particular project, which was a goal I'd set in 2024. Fair, I think, for it to take this long as finding the right match/them being open to queries/average response times. Anyway good for me!
  • Got my various planners (month and weekly) set up for October. Exciting particularly that at the end of October is my yearly autumnal week off.
  • The weekly blog post was a list of my favourite newsletters, some good readin' in there.
  • Finished the map for the current big writing project! Exciting 2 me. I did not end up using the map I made based on a Carcassonne game, but I still feel smart for the idea.

Went to Other Places Art Fair over at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, a very chill and fun time. The gallery Chase does work with, Helen's Costume drove down for it and we helped them set up. Always fun to talk to folks you mostly only interact with from a distance. They'd brought two of the prints from the show Chase was in along, it was so cool to get to see them in person, like I have seen these images a million times but getting to see a well-made print of something is so different.

There was a lizard (western fence lizard, I think?) who hunted around the rocks of the area around the booth and who was so bold as to get up ON the booth a couple of times. No fear on this little dude. What a joy.

Thank you as always for your support! October is going to be a writing month but I think I will have some fun stuff upcoming that isn't just updates as well.
