Image description: A photograph taken from the ground of a very tall pine (possibly ponderosa or same family) with twisty dark branches. The evening sun is lighting up some bundles of the needles in a rusty green. End ID.
Look at that, an update on the day I intend to do these. A public one too because why not.
It's Yeehawgust, which I've done things for before. This year I'm just using the weekly prompts to make myself play when drawing. No intention, just thematic vibes. I nearly forgot so "Desert Nights" was a quick one, relatively. I've got to drag the scanner out for these, I think, so I'll share later.
I'm trying to post? more? people keep telling me to do that? But I'm awful at it. I'm on Bluesky and Tumblr, and you probably already follow me there. I also have a whole ass blog that I enjoy using sometimes.
Today we did something new at a place we know well, which is always a fun trick. Rather than take our usual loops at the botanic gardens, we printed out a way more complicated map and marked where to find a specific pine tree we wanted to smell (Jeffery pine, they smell like vanilla), cross-referencing the grounds map with Calbg's database. It was a fun game of matching a place we knew well to an unfamiliar map and then trying to find (without looking it up) the particular trees.
I've got a story I need to refit/lookover. I don't think I've ever shared it, useful since I'd like to submit it somewhere. This week was supposed to be doing that but I hurt my back? Which ate a day, then I did all the right things for it and it was magically, horribly unsettlingly better the next day so honestly I spent the following 48 hours waiting for some other body shoe to drop or the spell to wear off. No, turns out if you know your physical therapy you can sometimes just nip things in the bud.
Anyway, drawings, writings, thank you for your support!
