If you follow me on Tumblr, then you already know I've been (sort of?) participating in Storytelling Collective’s April Daily Poem challenge. This year StoCo themed their prompts around an upcoming album for an artist I’ve got no connection with, so I went and made a Carly Rae Jepsen song title generator to use instead.
I am not a poetry person, although my partner has an actual degree in (form) poetry. But, the challenge is only 14 days long and its good to try new things and I am learning!!
I've been sharing the poems daily over on my Tumblr, with the tag #aprildailypoem. I have made it halfway through!! Things I am learning:
- Metre is a nice thing to fall back to when panicking.
- Metre is also a secret danger when you as a person speak with a drawl.
- It is very funny to me to use up syllables with a hex code.
- I think if I weren't following prompts most poems would be about birds (but only two of seven are so far).
