update: oh hey, it's may

hey folks. been a while since i did a text-only update!

sorry it's been quiet on the channel since the pussen boots vid. i've been sick with stomach problems off and on since march, and the times when i haven't been sick i've had a lot of Real Life Things to take care of. i'm not here to make promises about how that's changing or whatever, i have to imagine if you're reading this that you know Right Now Specifically is hell. but i do have actual updates to share on my work!!!

first of all, i've got two big-ish videos cooking that i'm focused on in lieu of doing weirder shorter things. one is an exploration of Station Eleven, easily my favorite television show of the decade so far. this is gonna be the first "part" in an informal series of videos about the specific televisual storytelling methods coming from the school of Damon Lindelof. Station Eleven's showrunner is Patrick Somerville, who previously worked under Lindelof on The Leftovers. this is essentially a dry run for Everyone Is Wrong About LOST, a video that i've been doing a **lot** of research work for that won't pay off for a good while.

the other vid in active development, which i hope to have finished relatively soon, is a... review??? ...of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. i'm pretty excited for this one because i think i've got a really unique angle. the central thesis is "i love this game, so why don't i love this game?" and at its core is a video i shot in 2019 and never released, that i only just rediscovered a month ago, where i talk about my experience revisiting Breath of the Wild after a long absence with a few self-imposed limitations. i'll only be using clips from it in my totk vid, so i might release that whole thing here just for y'all. basically what i want to do with this one is cut through the kind of rote "is it good/is it bad" tendencies and dig into something much deeper about the nature of open world games, sequels, art under capitalism, etc etc etc.

the scripts for those are still in very early stages, but that's because i'm currently in the middle of writing for a video game!!! it's called Come Home Wolf and it's a sort of speculative sci-fi roleplaying werewolf game. you can play the unfinished early version here! it's very much a game jam game, but i think this is some of my best writing and everyone else on the team has done such a good job making it work. once my work on that is wrapped up in a couple days, i'm barrelling down hard the totk vid!

lastly, i am still working on godfeels. there'll be a new chapter of that up sometime in the next couple weeks with some TREMENDOUS art from my friend girlpillz. like it or not, you will be hearing more about my weird little homestuck fanfiction in the future. in a very real sense, the aforementioned "series" about television writing is the theory underlining the practice i'm putting in on godfeels. in between everything else i've mentioned, i've been working on an "author's introduction" to the series as an on-ramp for new readers (especially those who haven't read homestuck). but it's also going to be a lot of other things. there's a lot of meaningful history that's been aggressively memoryholed since the homestuck^2 project collapsed in 2020, and i'm pretty sick of it. but that's a can of worms best left unopened for now

so anyway!! thanks as always for your patience and continued support in these trying times of Definitely Not A Recession Bro Seriously Everything Is Fine Our Economy Is So Normal Now. next time you hear from me, it'll be to share a finished thing. take care of yourselves!
