Why I chose Comradery

I heard about Comradery from a comment somewhere on cohost. It was likely in response to a post that was praised co-operatives, since the devs behind cohost are a co-op. Comradery seemed interesting and I decided to try it. I had already researched other alternatives to Patreon like Liberapay and Ampled. Those were fine, and I considered Liberapay myself as it seemed attractive to something like Patreon.

But something was missing. Ampled was amazing and, honestly, I wish there wasn't a economic system where both it and Comradery have to compete. Even if they don't play the capitalist game. And I think that shows why I don't prefer Ampled — it's too much like Patreon, while trying to be something better.

Comradery is like Patreon too, in basic respectes. It's not reinventing the wheel. What I like most about it is... I'm part of a co-operative. So is Ampled, but... I like Comradery more. It's in alpha, has a clear, simple vision, and it aims to be sustainable in its own right. Had Comradery not existed, I would have chosen Ampled. And fuck Patreon.

Keep in mind, I still support people who have a Patreon. I don't blame the people who use Patreon for income. We need money to survive, and as much as the people who use Patreon perpetuate capitalism... all of us do as well. As the saying goes... there's no ethical consumption under capitalism. Fuckin hell, same people who complain about capitalism would use a privately owned service.

Anyway yeah. I love Comradery and can't wait to get started with shit. See y'all this Friday.
