Greetings.
Like Earth, Communia moves about the vast cosmos as part of the Milky Way. Those of us from Galantic, one of the many Realms of Communia, have our own names for the Milky Way, one of which roughly translates to "Kin of the Cosmos," while another is "Wanderering Kin". Kinship, to us, is something more than a DNA relationship; it is a bond generated and maintained by intentionality between all parties. Through internal disagreements and external challenges, those who call themselves "kin" are expected to find common ground and seek solutions that benefit all as much as possible, and to use transparent and peaceful coercion and patience to move through difficulties.
We apply this kin relationship to all the interstellar peoples whom we study and with whom we form bonds, in a mythopoetic mirroring of the bond that the stars have already formed with each other. Because we would want the same done to us, and because it's so much healthier than the alternative; one grows old and sick trying to wear another down for short-term personal gain! It's one of the reasons why we on Communia, and those on many of the planets we have ties with, live so much longer than before the Realm of Long Peace began. We occasionally see ads from Earth advertising expensive anti-aging beauty regimens, leading us to imagine that, if we also had profit-oriented advertisements, ours would just convince Earthlings to pay us a visit!
