well they start as a cover rough for the next chapter of NPOL, my first take on "a cult of pizza-delivering jackaloids who have no head under their motorcycle helmets"
then I opened up Illustrator and tried drawing some stuff
then I realized I can't draw motorcycles out of my head and got a friend to do a couple of doodles
and then I got really baked and grabbed some chisel-tip markers and some paper and pretended I was a concept car illustrator in the seventies
and then I decided that these guys were too coo to be a big group of faceless cultists so now we have three head Deliverants who probably finish each others' sentences or something
I was just like, ok, Crescent Moon the other two are Jackals of the Something Moon but I don't want them to be Full and New lemme look up Wikipedia's list of moon phases and see what jumps out at me, and "eclipse" and "planetshine" look good, and it turns out the latter is also called "the moon's ashen glow" and, damn that's a name isn't it.
Anyway here's the rest of the roughs for the next chapter of NPOL.
I need to look at some Sergio Toppi and maybe have another take at the last few pages here.
(The dialogue is in very weird rhythms because there are a lot of things you can say to the Snack Elves that become promises you do not want to make. Also some it is very placeholder.)
