Hello all! For my first post, I'm sharing a comic I put together on the creation of everything, or the torah portion of Bereshit from the book of Genesis.
I received the prompt for creating this comic from a Jewish class on the comics and torah. While the passage was only a suggestion of what to use, it spoke to me because of how certain lines were written.
For instance, this line: "And G-d said, “Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness.""
Us??
G-d, written as plural in a monotheistic religion, was a new viewpoint to me. But why should this be jarring? If G-d is everything, everywhere, why not refer to themself as such?
Later, the passage says: "G-d יהוה formed the Human from the soil’s humus, blowing into his nostrils the breath of life: the Human became a living being."
The "breath of life." The source of everything, everywhere.
Here's the comic in full. For more insights on life and death from a queer Jewish point of view, please consider subscribing to my project! Thanks for taking the time to read through.
