What I'm Seeing - March 2026

Posted by AugustIsWriting on Mar 02, 2026

I've been invited to a conference in a few days, which feels very Big and Institutional for me, mainly because I've been given a per diem. $80 a DAY for food alone??? Columbus hates to see me coming.

If anyone has any recommendations for Columbus, lemme know! I've never been. When I looked up, "what is Columbus Ohio known for?" I found the Experience Columbus website, which starts with a paragraph that says, "You may have your opinions about Columbus - or maybe you don't. We understand." As an early-career playwright, girl, same.

I've been invited because my play Acute Exposure won the 2025 EMOS Ecodrama Award, and is being produced at Ohio State University, who is hosting the conference as well. I'm excited to hear how other people are approaching ecodramas, how the theater industry can approach the climate crisis, and biggest of all: I'm leading my first playwriting workshop. People think I do things in a way worth explaining? Woah!

What I'm Seeing This Month

The Plume at the EMOS Ecodrama Festival - the runner up to the EMOS Ecodrama Prize, which gets a reading at the conference!

The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington at The Wilma Theater

Romeo and Juliet at The Arden Theater

The Dangers of Tobacco at Theatre Exile's Philly Grit Festival

It was the first warm sunny day of the year on Feb. 28th. May all of March feel like that first day!
