I'm going to be tabling at the Pittsburgh Zine Fair later this month and figured now was as good a time as any to make some new zines to print. I've put together 4 of them from designs I've had for a while now but haven't really published. All 4 are in the "unreleased" folder of the drive for supporters at 5 bucks or more. Here's a quick overview!
Hook, Line, & Sinker
This is a map drawing card game for 3-6 players inspired heavily by Beak, Feather, & Bone by Tyler Crumrine. You take turns drawing & playing cards from a standard deck and using them to draw and label lines on a blank map. While you're doing that, you're building up a poker hand of the cards you played. Whoever ends up with the best poker hand wins the game and their faction is in charge of the area you mapped out.
The basic thematic idea is that you play in a world that everyone's familiar with, be it from a game you are already playing, a movie you all enjoy, or anything else. You'll map out a new place in that world & vouch for your faction's interests.
The Hard Life of Birds
This is one of two walking games in the set. Basically you walk around outside, look at birds, and think about the troubles birds go through on a day to day basis. You'll play over the course of many walks and slowly fill out a little bird journal.
Random Walk
This is the second walking game! You go for a walk and roll dice every time you hit an intersection. The dice will tell you if you can take a street you know how to use to get to your destination or if you gotta go the wrong way. While you're walking you'll play out in your head a grand adventure, with each intersection representing a challenge you have to overcome to complete your quest.
Flyover
This one first appeared in my zine quest mini zine bounty board project where 7 people commissioned zine ideas from me for the project. It's probably my favorite of the game designs I did for that project. You throw a paper airplane around your room to map out some cool place. Each flight you'll pay attention to what you fly over and interpret it onto the map you're drawing. Big fan.
